Oval Parody (2022) is a suite of twelve acrylic-on-canvas paintings in which Erik Brunetti appropriates and subverts a quintessential American automotive oval logo, replacing the original marque with “Fuct.” Continuing his decades-long engagement with logo culture, brand semiotics, and street-level appropriation, the series examines repetition, graphic authority, and the fluid boundaries between corporate iconography and independent counterculture.
First exhibited at Spazio Maiocchi in Milan, the body of work has since been extended into a significant limited-edition silkscreen print available in the STUDIO.
Select original paintings from the series remain available through the studio and the Erik Brunetti Foundation for the Arts. Inquire for availability and further information.
For further reading on the broader context of Brunetti’s practice and questions of cultural value, see Collecting Beyond Speculation in the Foundation Journal.
Oval Parody, acrylic on canvas, 2022
Part of a twelve-work series first exhibited in Milan, exploring repetition, reinterpretation, and graphic circulation.
Selected Works spans painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, developed across interrelated bodies of work.
Paintings and drawings form the core of the practice, with recurring formal and graphic structures developed and reworked over time. These works serve as the source material for subsequent exhibitions, publications, and print editions.
Sculptural and installation-based works extend these concerns into spatial formats, expanding the same visual language beyond the surface of the image.
Works have been exhibited in collaboration with galleries and institutions and are held in private collections and within the Erik Brunetti Foundation for the Arts, where they are preserved as part of the artist’s archival record.
